1st step
Save time and effort in your daily internet research:
- first of all: read this post to the end
- download the Firefox Browser for free
- install the Fuzzy Link Firefox Extension for the Firefox Browser
- read this little tutorial
So the first step to better finding was to code a Firefox Extension that allows to link words, phrases or whole sentences on a webpage.
What the Extension basically does, is analyse the given information in the link (href, title, anchor text, quote new) and use this information for good. When you use the “Fuzzy Link” function on a link, it will open the linked page(href), highlight every text part that is equal to the link title (or quote) and jump to the position of this text, so you will immediately see what was ment to be linked. If no title (or quote) was defined in the link, it will look for text similar to the anchor text.
Fuzzy Link works with text and image links.
Extra Function:
If you select a phrase on a page that is not a link and use the “Fuzzy Link” function, it will highlight every equal phrase on the same page. If you select an image, the alternate text of this image will be highlighted
Benefits for Link-Creator:
You can point to a certain piece of information on a page or to many pieces that are alike by putting the text in the link title (or quote)
Benefits for the Link-Follower:
You will find the information that was ment to be linked in an instant and save a lot of time
Note: You will find the “Fuzzy Link” function at the top of the context menue after right-clicking on a link or any selected text.
